I don't like to be compartmentalized into one category. I like too many things, want to try many things, and have too many opinions to be labeled as one thing. I don't like to do the giggle, flirty, empty head, oh-I'm-so-helpless act, and don't think the world revolves around sex. I'm more of a cerebral kind of gal.
I'm also a fan. BIG time. I like a lot of television shows and movies as you can see in my "interests" section. I like reading fanfic, too. Gen or slash. My favorite movie of all time is Master and Commander. See a trend? I like buddy-buddy shows and no, I don't see every pairing as a slash. Nor do I think it's wrong if anyone else does. Same goes to with ship or het. But I also believe in limits- in not crossing from the naughty to the downright rude, obnoxious or disgusting. No one is an expert and no one can truly know what the writer was thinking writing an episode on any show.
I know the next generation like us get a bad rap on not knowing when not to cross the line. Prissy little whiney people who don't believe in a good beta reader, never appreciate the work webmasters do for fan sites, or even know what the h_ll is a fanzine. (I got my chance four years ago at Mediawest in Lansing and it's been the greatest discovery since).
I want to prove that's only a small percent of fans are bad. Fans are NOT fanatics. Fanatics are NOT FANS. They're just out to ruin the fun for the rest of us. They believe bossy, rudeness, and inconsiderate behavior totally fine if you're online.
Fandom can still be fandom again!
